#Lucid air vs tesla series
I think a 7 Series or Lexus LS still has the edge on materials and solid feeling, but the Lucid isn’t awfully far behind - the Tesla is very far behind from it.īasically the main difference is that unlike the Model S refresh, the Air feels much more like a car that was thought out, without as much cost cutting built in - as it should, since the Lucid costs more. So the Air definitely feels closer to BMW/Lexus/MB/Audi quality than the Model S does solely based on visual inspection and feel of doors/panels. The Model S I was in had some clear overspray, a few small bits where it seemed like clearcoat had already faded or wasn’t applied right, and there were what appeared to be specs of white or dust under the clear from factory. That makes the model S “cooler” perhaps, but the Lucid still largely feels like a regular car, albeit a very advanced one.Įxterior quality is a similar deal - the Air feels more substantial than the Model S, it’s clear that more thought was put into build tolerances, and paint work on the Air was clearly better than on the Model S. Overall design, my opinion is the Model S is more striking than the Lucid, but that’s opinion alone.

Switchgear on the Air also feels better when it comes to window switches for example - I won’t debate yoke vs. Stereo quality is about equal for both, maybe with a slight edge to the Lucid but hardly a dealbreaker. Infotainment/stereo wise, Tesla has the edge on infotainment (better responsiveness, more features, UI is better thought out imo). With the doors closed, the Lucid’s sound insulation is better as well. Same deal with the refresh Model S, so I’ll just speak to build/interior.īuild quality and interior on the Air far outpaces the Model S - everything from the quality of the seats down to trim looks and feels more luxurious.

I haven’t driven a Lucid, but I’ve spent some time in/playing with the Air, so I won’t pretend I know what driving experience is like.
